Wardrobe Tips, From A to Z

Finding your style in itself is no simple feat. But re-finding your style after almost 2 years of adjusting to WFH culture and having to get back to the office is a whole other story. I'm here to help all women get their style back since dressing for business has changed. Let's talk wardrobe tips, A-to-Z.

Are you ready to get back to your best self? Getting back to reality means dressing in a way that expresses who you truly are. A lot has changed, but I'm here to help.

Be true to you. With trends taking over the fashion scene in 2021, think about what trends align with how you want to present yourself.

Create a wardrobe you love. Start with the essentials and build from there. What staple pieces do you absolutely need in your wardrobe? White tee? Check. Black jacket? Check. Trendy sneaker? Check.

Don't fall for fads. You don't like this season's ruffle trend? Don't participate in it! Rule of thumb: if it feels forced, it's probably not for you. Pick and choose the trends that align with you, and ignore the rest.

Elevate your basics. Invest in your wardrobe essentials. Buying high quality basics will allow you to wear them for years to come and avoid excess waste.

Forget uncomfortable shoes. Comfortable heels are real and you can find them easily. Gone are the days where we buy shoes we know will sit in the back of our closets. Invest in your wardrobe — your feet will thank you!

Grab some accessories. Accessories are an easy way to up-level your look and add some personality to your style! Opt for a pair of statement earrings, like these from Julie Vos. They're subtle enough to wear day-to-day, but also give your outfit that extra bit of oomph.

Hire a professional! When it comes to style and fashion, a personal stylist can do wonders for your wardrobe (and save you time and money in the process!).

Illuminate your favorite features. Buying clothing that complements your figure is important. It helps you feel more confident and comfortable, and helps you look your best! A win-win in my book.

Justify your purchases. Make sure that what you're buying aligns with your values and needs. Don't splurge on an athletic shoe when you spend 80% of your time in an office. Rather, invest in a gorgeous pair of pumps that will keep you trendy and comfortable at work.

Kill the impulse purchases. We all have those pieces that we bought in an impulsive haze, but now droop sadly in the back of our closets. Pro tip: don't impulse buy. If you can't wear it with your favorite wardrobe items, it's probably not a fit.

Less is more. Coco Chanel said, “Before you leave the house, look in the mirror and take one thing off.” She was right! Less can definitely be more when it comes to your personal style.

Mix and match! It's okay to play around with your wardrobe. Have fun mixing & matching prints and colors, you never know what you might end up liking.

Name your price. Set a budget and stick to it. It's easy to get overwhelmed while shopping, especially in-store. Come prepared and know your limits. Your wallet will thank you (and you can still find great pieces without breaking the bank!).

Organize your wardrobe first. Before you start your building your new back-to-work style, look at the pieces you already have and the pieces you can get rid of. A deep closet clean out will clarify exactly what you need more of.

Plan your shopping wisely. Aimlessly shopping can be exhausting and overwhelming. Come prepared and have a list of items you're on the hunt for to ease any stress you may have.

Quality over quantity. No one likes finding micro-tears or threads unraveling. Invest in higher quality pieces that will last for years to come.

Readjust to your new reality. Take stock of how many days you're in the office and make a list of clothing items you need according to your new schedule.

Shop with duality in mind. Buy pieces that can be worn in the office as well as to dinner and drinks. This dress from Vince is the perfect example - pair it with a blazer for work, and a strappy heel for a night out. Save yourself time and money by repurposing outfit pieces for different events.

Toss your unworn pieces. Donate your old unworn clothing that's taking up valuable space in your closet. Clothing that is out of sight often gets forgotten. Get rid of the clutter and make space for the new!

Utilize the internet! Websites like Pinterest and Instagram provide inspiration and can help you hone in on how you want to look. Get out there — follow brands you love and pin posts that you like!

Value your clothing. While you're getting back in the groove of things, don't forget to take proper care of your clothing. Value your clothes and they will last for years to come.

Withhold the urge to quit. Building a wardrobe may seem exhausting, but it gets easier with every step. Hiring a personal stylist can take the weight off your shoulders, and help you find your personal style quicker than ever.

X-out anything that makes you uncomfortable. Don't be afraid to get rid of clothing that makes you feel less than your best. Instead, focus on the right items that make you feel empowered and confident.

Your style is important. If it feels like you haven't defined your style yet, don't fret. It's there, sometimes you just need someone to pull it out of you.

Zest is key! Enter your style journey with the same enthusiasm and excitement as you would your latest passion project. Look good, feel great!
