Do you often find yourself saying, "I spend too much time getting dressed in the morning" or "I have nothing to wear"? Unfortunately, as a stylist, I hear these complaints day after day, but it doesn't have to be that way—I promise!

As our dressing needs evolve, so do our priorities. There's a distinction between getting dressed and feeling dressed. It's about having the right pieces in your closet to effortlessly assemble outfits that reflect your style and make you feel confident.

Ask yourself honestly: Do your clothes fit well? Do you feel great in your jeans? Jeans are a staple for today's "smart casual" look. And what about your tops, the foundation of your wardrobe? Are they exciting or lackluster? Just as you can't hang pictures without walls, a well-rounded wardrobe relies on essential basics like camis, shells, and blouses.

Remember, the goal is to have a functional wardrobe that makes getting dressed a breeze, whether it's one, two, or three steps. It's not about the quantity of clothing you own but rather the quality and versatility of your pieces.

So, how do you begin? Block off some time in your calendar, relax, and pour yourself a glass of wine. Then, dive in and start organizing your wardrobe!

Step 1: Wardrobe Evaluation

Start by assessing your current wardrobe. Identify items you no longer wear or don't feel comfortable in, and remove them from your closet. This step is all about decluttering and making room for pieces that truly reflect your personal style.

Step 2: Try-On Session

Take everything out of your closet and try each item individually. Pay attention to how each piece fits and makes you feel. If it doesn't spark joy or if you can't envision yourself wearing it, it's time to let it go. This step is crucial for creating a curated wardrobe filled with mix-and-match pieces that you love.

Step 3: Make a Shopping List

After evaluating your existing wardrobe, make a list of items you feel you are missing or would like to have to help enhance the new outfits you are creating. Consider important basic items, solid shells, elevated t-shirts, great-fitting jeans, and black pants, as well as a few new accessories to add your touch to your personal style. Shopping with a strategy of what to buy will prevent you from impulse buying random items.

Step 4: Mix and Match

Once you have curated your wardrobe and have added some missing pieces, it's time to experiment with outfit combinations. Try mixing and matching different colors and styles instead of staying loyal to the same go-to's that you normally wear. Don't be afraid to step out of your comfort zone and try something new!

Step 5: Accessorize

Accessories change everything, they are the key to reflecting your personal style. Try a new earring, or add a pop of color with a handbag or shoe. Remember, it's about your unique style!
