Shopping for clothing used to be fun and easy! I know that I have always had the fashion bug and that I LOVE looking at clothing, but personally I’m not much of a shopper, I’m a buyer!
What does that mean?
I want to go to a few stores where I like the merchandise assortment, I feel comfortable looking around, and then hopefully leave with a purchase. I don’t want to feel overwhelmed, stressed or feel depressed in the store because I don’t know where to go, I just want to feel happy! I want to purchase beautiful new clothing and accessories easily every season that I can add to my existing wardrobe and feel great in. I want to know that the style looks appropriate on me, is comfortable and reflects my lifestyle and budget. Sounds easy, right???
Anyone else feel like me? I know you do because I hear this every day. I hear that shopping isn’t easy; clothing is so frumpy, too young, very basic, or just not me. What happened to our tried and true stores? Why did they get so young or so old? Shopping has definitely become more challenging, and so much is done online today. If you are over 40 there are less stores to shop in, and it’s either very boxy and super colorful, very high priced or inexpensive and cheaply made. Now, don’t get me wrong, I love beautiful clothing, but the key is knowing where to spend your budget.
Imagine yourself in a fitting room thinking… hey I look pretty good! Just consider really enjoying getting dressed and stepping out for the day. It could be a color that you’ve never worn or just a newer look. Well. I can get you there!
You see, clothing is an extension of who we are and how we feel about ourselves. It doesn’t have to be fancy or expensive, it just should be right for who you are! Now I know some of you are thinking, that’s not me, it doesn’t really matter. Ok, fair enough, but I ask you, why not look great and feel awesome as opposed to looking just “ok” and always the same? Are you so set in your ways that you think, it takes too much effort? Too much time? Too much money? Well the truth is, it can take the same amount of time if you have a wardrobe that supports your lifestyle and you have the right pieces. Anyone here still have tags hanging from items in your closet? That to me is wasted money. There is a reason that the tags are still on the clothing. If your closet is organized, you have the right wardrobe essentials and you like everything in your closet then, getting dressed can be as simple as 1, 2, 3!
I want to help you gain confidence in your style and your dressing ability. I want you to learn the rules for yourself so that you can feel confident the next time you venture into the new world of shopping today.
